2011 PUBLIC/ MUSEUM SERLACHIUS - LIKE A DROP OF WATER:

The new Serlachius Extension hangs onto the existing building – it slightly touches the gable and makes a respectful gesture towards the historical frame. It places itself between body a landscape and creates thereby references to both building and site. The shape of the extension forms a functional and protecting shell which allows the visitor to experience both an open atmosphere and at the same time an enclosed experience in the main exhibitionhall. All framed by the timber construction which creates and emphasizes the shape of the coherent structure. The main exhibition hall is surrounded by supporting functions, which makes the museum easy to operate and handle.
